Is showing your emotions a sign of weakness or strength?

‘Is showing your emotions a sign of weakness or strength?’

Since when has this even become a question? And why?

The answer is very clear.. showing emotions is a sign of STRENGTH! Cowards will say otherwise.

It has always been that way and it will always be that way. What you were taught and what you choose to believe is another matter.

Because.. you choose whether you see yourself as strong or weak for showing your emotions. And not just emotions, but feelings as well. You choose whether you will let your emotions stay trapped inside your body, eating you from within.. or whether you will set yourself free.

I said what I think.. and this is why I think that way:

It takes true courage to open yourself to someone.

It takes true courage to tell someone you like or love them, regardless of the answer.

It takes true courage to express how you feel.

It takes true courage to show your vulnerability.

It takes true courage to say when something or someone hurts you instead of lowering your head and staying silent.

It takes true courage to show your pain.

It takes true courage to ask for help.

It takes true courage to let someone see your tears.

It takes true courage to love someone, but let them go.

It takes true courage TO BE REAL among people who wear masks.

It takes true courage to speak your mind, even though people will judge you.

It takes true courage to be authentic, stay true to yourself and be okay with whatever other people think or say.

It takes true courage to be honest in a world full of hypocrisy.

It feels like standing completely naked among people.

It takes true courage to stand up for yourself.

It takes true courage to stand in front of injustice and say ‘this is enough’, while people around you keep their heads down.

It takes true courage to feel fear and keep going despite it.

Because courage is not the absence of fear. A brave person is not someone who never feels afraid, but someone who faces that fear and keeps moving forward despite it.

If you do all this, it means you are doing the right thing, first of all for yourself.. and that makes you strong, not weak.

The only thing that is truly unhealthy is forcing yourself into silence because someone convinced you or taught you that emotions are weakness.

To remain silent and swallow your unexpressed emotions while they slowly eat you alive from within.

Do not ever let anyone tell you that you are weak for expressing how you feel. Or that you are not a real man or a strong person because you feel the need to cry.

Masculine men are vulnerable too. It makes them human. The problem is the lack of masculinity, not tears.

Be real. Keep it real.

Feel what you feel. Find a way to say what is on your mind and in your heart.. and never regret saying it. The only thing you can regret is not staying true to yourself.

Yes, it takes strength and courage to live this way.. BUT YOU ARE STRONG.

Do not bottle up your emotions or feelings.

This isn’t the only text. But today, it might be enough.
