‘Love is not Valentine’s Day.. love is always kissing good night.’
Because love is often found in the simplest things.. like kissing good night. It’s not about grand gestures.. it’s about making sure the one you love feels loved.
And not just kissing good night.. but good morning, goodbye, suddenly, unexpectedly.. because one kiss can say more than gifts ever will.
This is one of those reminders that has nothing to do with dates or anything that feels like an obligation, but with the essence of it all.. love.
For that you don’t need calendars, reminders or expensive gestures that are supposed to ‘prove’ your love for someone. Although gifts are beautiful, and we all love them, as well as attention and surprises, they are by no means the measure of someone’s love.
This is a reminder for love. And to celebrate love, not dates.
We all sometimes need reminders like this to bring us back to what matters most. Because we often get lost in daily obligations and stress, and put aside what is at the very core of life.. love.
We neglect the person we love or start taking them for granted.
So let this reminder serve you as an invitation to stop and check your reality, your relationship, as well as your relationships with the people you love.
Don’t wait for special dates, especially not Valentine’s Day, to show someone how much you love them.
That date means absolutely nothing. It is often just an illusion of love. Love should not need a scheduled reminder.
It’s far better to show love on all the other days, not just one. It often feels like a date promoted and used for other people’s profit, so people buy and receive gifts and then post pictures on Facebook or Instagram showing how loved they are.
And are they really loved? Or are they simply performing love for an audience? Or trying to convince others that they are loved?
Why do you need to post it on social media?
If it wasn’t ridiculous, it would be funny.
And it can be sad for those who already feel sad because they are alone. It can also create envy.. Just as Christmas can be a sad date for many.
And in reality, it is not these holidays themselves that make people feel sad. They are sad because they are surrounded by so much ‘love’, while feeling completely deprived of it.
Don’t forget that there are many relationships that seem filled with love, but in reality are relationships without love, where people stay for their own reasons while presenting a false image of their relationship to the world.
So whatever it is, whether you are in a relationship or not.. focus on yourself, not others. Focus on your own life, not other people’s lives.
Don’t compare yourself to others. Never. That is one of the easiest ways to feel sad, lonely, angry or frustrated.. and there is no need for that. Check in with yourself.
If you are single, wait for the person who will truly love you and accept you as you are. And for that, you must first accept and love yourself completely. Then become the kind of person you hope to meet. Don’t expect what you don’t give. And never settle for less than you give.
If you are in a relationship and you love your partner, again, ask yourself how you feel right now. Do you feel neglected.. or have you neglected your partner? Ask your partner how they feel.
What can you do to improve the relationship?
Show them unexpected attention. Do something thoughtful. Something unexpected. Surprise them. Tell them you appreciate them and WHY you appreciate them. Show your love. COMMUNICATE.
If there is no love.. then why would you be in a relationship? Don’t you think both of you deserve love? Again, COMMUNICATE with your partner and make a decision that is good for both of you.
Don’t forget that seemingly small and free things are often what make love and life truly great.
If you want a special relationship, then make it special. Both of you.
Love is not a date. Love is daily presence.
And always kiss good night.
And not just good night.. kiss good morning, kiss hello, kiss goodbye.
Love should never wait for a special occasion.
This isn’t the only text. But today, it might be enough.
