‘It’s ok to be brave, it’s ok to leave.’
Ok, ok.. this phrase sounds poetic. But I definitely prefer truth and reality.
And the part ‘it’s okay to be brave’ sounds to me as if courage depends on other people’s permission or confirmation.. when the truth is that true courage should always live within you.
Especially when partings come.. farewells, difficult moments, losses, decisions to end unhealthy relationships.. or simply in those moments when you gave your best and it was not valued.. so you decide to leave.
In fact, that is exactly where courage is born and where growth truly begins.
It is born precisely in difficult moments.. and then you decide whether you will choose courage or not.
So you do not need permission to be brave.. you need support. And who else should support you if not yourself?
And never forget that you are already brave. Even in those struggling moments. Your bravery is already within you.
But many people forget their courage and choose weakness instead. They choose what seems easier even though it is not healthy.
Choose courage. Let go of anything that makes you feel unhappy or unwanted. I repeat.. ANYTHING. Choose to be brave over attachment to what hurts you.
Do not force things. If something does not flow, if something does not feel right.. let it go.
Friends, your partner, relationships, food you do not like, city, books.. ANYTHING.
Sometimes it is not easy.. but compared to what? Staying where you suffer? Betraying yourself?
Do not be loyal to toxic environments.. be loyal to yourself and your wellbeing.
Is forcing yourself to stay loyal to something that makes you unhappy really easier than change?
You need to learn the difference between loyalty and becoming a slave to someone or something.
Before you let someone or something leave your life.. always understand WHY.
Communicate.. especially if it is someone you love. SAY how you feel and why.
You do not need anyone’s permission to do what is good for you.
If someone has a harmful effect on your mental or physical health.. why would you stay? Why would you keep destroying yourself for them?
Do you see love as constantly giving, pleasing and sacrificing yourself while receiving no love in return?
Do you know your boundaries? Do you respect them? Do you love yourself?
Then why would you stay with someone who does not love you for who you truly are?
Whatever decision you make.. let it come from the right place. A place of love. Love towards yourself. No, that is not selfish.. it is necessary.
IT IS OK to leave if something has become harmful for you or for both of you. Leaving is sometimes the healthiest thing you can do.
If there is no real possibility to continue the relationship in a healthy way.. then leaving is the solution.
It takes true courage to leave.. but sometimes it is necessary.
For you. For your wellbeing. For your peace. For your health.
And yes, you are brave and strong enough to leave.
YOU, yes YOU, who are reading this.. you deserve to be healthy and happy. AND LOVED. FULFILLED. To have healthy relationships filled with love.
Change begins with you. And you are strong enough to change your life for the better. Everything changes once you decide to change.
So always ask yourself how you truly feel.. and what you can do to change things for the better.
This isn’t the only text. But today, it might be enough.
