‘No amount of security is worth the suffering of a mediocre life chained to a routine that has killed your dreams.’
How much security is enough? Are you truly secure? And what does ‘security’ actually mean to you? How do you define it?
And is that security enough for your health? For peace? For love? For joy? For fulfilment?
People often tell themselves.. ‘It’s a good job.’ ‘It’s a stable relationship.’ ‘I’m just being realistic.’ They hide their fears behind the language of being ‘a responsible adult’ because that story is easier to believe.. and much easier to digest.
Do you truly feel satisfied with your life? Fulfilled? At peace with yourself? Do you truly listen to your heart.. and follow your dreams and desires?
Or have you simply convinced yourself that it is?
Security can be comforting.. it pays the bills. It is predictable. But be careful not to quietly suffocate your ambition in the name of security.
And maybe.. you live according to other people’s expectations, swallowing your emotions while slowly abandoning your own desires and dreams.. just to satisfy their opinions and the life they expect you to live.
Is that your idea of a happy life? Becoming a secondary character in your own story? Silently killing your dreams? Or have you simply learned to justify your choices.. convincing yourself that this is how life is supposed to be.. while deep inside you already know the truth?
The people who expect you to live according to their expectations rarely have to suffer the consequences of your unfulfilled life.
Always be honest with yourself. Ask yourself what a fulfilled life truly means to you.. then reflect.
Maybe it will be painful. Maybe not.
The point is.. it is never too late to change. Never too late for a new beginning. As long as something still ignites a fire inside you.. follow it. And even if only a tiny flame remains.. if all that is left is a quiet desire.. listen to it.
If you do not feel satisfied with yourself or with your life (again.. define what satisfaction, fulfilment and peace actually mean to you).. know this:
Starting over is okay. Starting from scratch is okay.
No matter your age. No matter your status.
Throwing away your five-year plan is okay. Tearing up your to-do list is okay.
Disappearing for a while to rebuild your life is okay.
It does not matter how long it takes. Real change never happens overnight.
What matters is that you live your life the way you truly believe it should be lived. Take the time you need.. and move one step at a time. Even if that means waking up five years from now in a completely different country. Because.. why not? It is your life.
You should live love. You deserve to pursue your dreams. You decide.
Choosing yourself will feel uncomfortable at first.. get comfortable with that feeling.
And then comes another obstacle for many people.. explaining their decision to change their own life. Fear appears once again.
Of course, explanations matter.. but not to everyone.
Explain your intentions to the people you truly care about, especially when your decisions affect their lives too. Explain your plans. Explain how you feel. Communicate honestly.. so you do not leave room for regrets. Not everyone will understand you.. and that is okay. Your responsibility is to communicate, not to control how others respond.
Talk about everything.. honestly and openly. But do not expect everyone to understand you, see you or agree with your decisions. Some people may even become angry with you.. and that is okay.
You do not owe anyone anything except honesty.. and above all, honesty with yourself. Do not get trapped in mediocrity.
Ask yourself.. are you living the life you truly want.. or the life you have convinced yourself you should accept? Sometimes security is nothing more than fear wearing a different name. Sometimes it is simply limitation in disguise.
