‘Why should I text first?’ is ego. ‘Why should I always be the one to text first?’ is self-respect.

”Why should I text first?’ is ego. ‘Why should I always be the one to text first?’ is self-respect. Notice the difference.’

Whether you should text first can be confusing for many people. I’ll try to explain it as simply as possible. As always.

‘Should I text or not? How will they react? What if they do not like it? What if they never reply? Why should I text first?’ These are just some of the many questions — and fears — that run through people’s minds. In the end, many choose not to send the message at all and let fear guide them.

And that single decision can completely change the course of your life compared to what might have happened if you had sent the message.

You decide. Whatever decision you make, know why you are making it, and make sure it brings you peace.

So, listen to what I have to say..

First.. listen to your heart, not to the voices in your head. Those voices only create confusion. More often than not, it is your fearful mind speaking, constantly coming up with reasons not to do what your heart truly wants. Fear will always try to convince you that your heart is wrong. But your heart is not the problem. Sometimes it simply needs healthy boundaries to protect itself. Learn to recognize the difference.. and do not let your fearful thoughts make your decisions.

Because what truly matters is being at peace with yourself. Doing what you genuinely want despite the fear, instead of waking up tomorrow regretting what you never said or never did. That is how you know you stayed true to yourself. So wherever you are, whatever you choose to do.. give it your full presence. Give it your 100%. Live without regrets.

So if you genuinely want to send a message for your own reasons, send it. Whether it is to tell someone you miss them, to apologise, or simply to express what is in your heart.. do it.

The voices in your head will usually tell you why you should NOT do it. Your heart will quietly say: ‘Yes.’ That is where the confusion begins. It is the eternal battle between fear and love.. between the mind and the heart.

The next crucial step is this: focus on expressing yourself, not on other people’s reactions. Let go of expectations. The moment expectations take over, your mind and your ego step in. They fear rejection, being ignored, losing, or not being enough. And once again, they will try to convince you not to act at all.

Do not focus on how other people will react. Focus on expressing what you truly feel. Be kind. Be honest. Be clear. Speak in a way that allows the other person to understand you.

If their answer is not the one you hoped for, accept it. That is their choice, not yours. You have done your part. There is no reason to regret expressing yourself honestly.

If they do not reply, that is also an answer. Accept it. And once again, do not regret sending the message. Silence communicates too.

Whatever answer you receive, you will finally know where you stand instead of living with assumptions and regrets. Even painful clarity is better than endless uncertainty. Clarity brings peace.

Seeing the situation clearly allows you to move forward with peace instead of remaining trapped in doubt.

Your responsibility is simply to do your part. Nothing more. Nothing less.

However.. if your question is: ‘Why should I always be the one to text first?’ — no.. you do not have to.

That is an excellent question when the relationship starts feeling one-sided. When you begin to feel lonely despite being with someone.

Put things into perspective.

Every healthy relationship requires two people who are equally willing to build it. I am talking about the foundation of every healthy relationship: respect, trust, honesty, loyalty, love.. and the willingness to nurture what you are building together. If that willingness is not mutual.. what is the point? You are supposed to feel connected, not disconnected.

If you are always the one initiating conversations, making plans and carrying the relationship forward, sooner or later it becomes exhausting. Stop for a moment. Talk to your partner, or to the person with whom you feel that imbalance. Relationships are not meant to be carried by one person alone.

So.. always give your 100%. But if there is no healthy response from the other side, stop pushing. Do not push when the door clearly says ‘Pull’. That is the moment to pause, ask difficult questions and talk openly about what is happening. That is when your healthy boundaries should start protecting you. Then watch what happens.. and decide what to do.

Do not plant flowers in someone else’s garden if they never water them. Respect yourself.

Learn to love yourself. Then healthy boundaries come naturally because they grow from the right place.. love and respect for yourself. At the same time, you learn to accept other people for who they are instead of trying to turn them into who you want them to be.

You cannot force love, connection or relationships. They must grow naturally. Love should always flow both ways. So if you are doing all the work, step back for a moment and give the other person the opportunity to show up.

Be careful whom you give your love, your time and your energy to. Choose the person who also chooses you.

Do not play ego games. Do not ghost. Do not gaslight. If what you truly want is a genuine connection, then be willing to make the effort to build one. It always takes two people.

Ego and self-respect are not the same thing. Ego focuses on power. It tells you that reaching out first means losing. Self-respect focuses on balance. It asks for mutual effort, not one-sided effort.

There is a big difference between pride and healthy boundaries. Texting first is not weakness. It shows you care. But carrying an entire relationship on your own is a sign that the relationship is no longer balanced and it will only exhaust you. Healthy connections require effort from both sides.

This isn’t the only text. But today, it might be enough.
