‘Everyone says love hurts, but that is not true. Loneliness hurts. Rejection hurts. Losing someone hurts. Envy hurts. Everyone gets these things confused with love, but in reality love is the only thing in this world that covers up all pain and makes someone feel wonderful again. Love is the only thing in this world that does not hurt.’
When you think of love, do you think of pain? Perhaps you have been through painful experiences. Most of us have. But you have to understand that LOVE DOES NOT HURT. What hurts is when someone we love hurts us. Or, more precisely, when someone who does not yet know how to love—or how to love you—hurts you.
Love in itself does not hurt, it heals. That is how you recognize love. Do not equate it with pain.
I also believe that such a person often does not know how to love themselves either. Which should not serve as a right for anyone to hurt others, or to serve as an excuse for inflicting pain on others. Each of us needs to learn what pure love truly is, how to set healthy boundaries, and then live accordingly. And, of course, how to communicate assertively.
Does loneliness hurt? Of course, yes, but only if you do not enjoy your own company. Loneliness often points to a lack of love.. toward yourself. Being alone does not mean being lonely. Loneliness is your perception of you being alone. In fact, the loneliest people are mostly in relationships.
Therefore, once again, the task of each of us is to learn to love and respect ourselves. To learn how to be alone and okay with that, instead of being dragged from relationship to relationship by the feeling of loneliness, looking for fulfillment in others. Your life is your responsibility. Do not hand it over to someone else as if it were a gift.
Even when you learn to love yourself, and ‘know how to be alone’, there will come a moment when you will feel lonely. However, you will know that it is only a momentary feeling, and if necessary, you will look at the real reason behind it.
Does rejection hurt? It hurts most when the ego or fear are the ones leading your life. Because the ego does not like to lose or to be rejected. When your heart guides you and when, for example, you show your emotions and interest in someone.. then there is no expectation, but acceptance. There is giving without expectation. And rejection is part of life. We all have the right to choose. The more you understand these things, the less it will hurt.
Unrequited love hurts.. but ask yourself why. Is it because you do not accept the fact that someone does not care.. and why would you give your love to someone who does not care and shows it openly? Find the root of your attachment.
Loss hurts. Of course it does. I hope you are human. Pain is part of life and it is inevitable. But suffering is something different. The depth and duration of that pain depend greatly on how you process it, accept it, and move through it. Do not turn pain into suffering. Healing begins with acceptance.
Envy? This must not stand as a synonym for love. Envy is often hidden self-hatred, dissatisfaction with oneself. Work on that. Not on others.
Please, learn what love is, and feel it through love for yourself, so that you never get into a situation where you say that love hurts and accept it as normal. Learn what love is in order to set boundaries and reject everything from your life that does not feel like love.
People do not get tired of loving. They get tired of waiting, assuming, hearing lies, being manipulated, being ghosted..
Do not confuse these things. Because painful situations will happen. But you decide what feels like love, and you choose what truly feels right for you. Do not choose pain.
This isn’t the only text. But today, it might be enough.
